Previously unpublished drawings by Glebus Sainciuc, from the family archive

Glebus made these drawings on different occasions and gave them to the people they were meant for. But before each one left his hands, he took a photo or made a copy. He kept them, hoping to see them gathered in an album one day.

For years, they waited in the Sainciuc family archive. Together with Lică Sainciuc, Glebus’s son, we made that wish come true and chose around 70 drawings. What connects them is one artist’s hand, his irony, his way of seeing. Full of paradox and humor, they show everyday life in the last decades of the 20th century, as only Glebus could see it.

Children will discover small details of a time they never knew. Older readers will recognise themselves and the years they lived through.

Bagatele means small things. We made this book because some small things are worth keeping.
