We connected with Ana Everling and her music

On a cold winter day, we received a message from Ana. She wrote to us about a very special project, and it was flattering to know she wanted us to work on it together. A vinyl record, still looking for its name at the time, built around songs from 1970s Moldova, reinterpreted by Ana Everling in her own unique way. When we heard the music… it was clear. We connected on every level.

Ana Everling is an artist from the Republic of Moldova who has been based in Chicago for several years now, carrying the music of our land with her wherever she performs.

The process

We looked for inspiration in the time the music came from. We got to know Ana more closely, her work, her universe. We chose a technique that fit this project beautifully: linocut. Not an imitation, but a real linocut, with actual lino and actual carving. As we listened to the songs, we searched for the spirit that holds the album together, the thread running through it. Pui de dor. We heard Pui de dor, and felt it there, in every song. And it landed on the cover, too.

The result

The image invites you in. It asks you to open your soul and listen. To listen to yourself.

The extension

Then came the concert where Ana Everling launched the album Pui de dor. We extended the visual elements for the stage and for the promotion as well. The hall was full.
